Hatha Yoga
Stretch, strengthen, tone and enhance your overall well-being with the art and science of Yoga. Clarify the mind, balance the body and rejuvenate the spirit. Lengthen your spine and develop your core with this ancient exercise suitable for everyone.
The word yoga means "union." It is the merging of one's individual consciousness with the universal or divine consciousness. In essence, yoga is the union of the mind, body, and spirit.
Hatha Yoga is the physical practice of Yoga. Ha means "sun" and tha means "moon." Therefore, hatha yoga is the union of opposites. This is practiced through the physical postures called asana and breath regulation, pranayama.
Traditionally, the movement and postures prepare the body for meditation. In conjunction with specific breath work the asana is proven to provide the practitioner with an abundance of health benefits. Recent scientific studies support the ancient knowledge and wisdom attained through Yoga for thousands of years.

At Balance & Harmony, we offer a variety of yoga classes to fit the needs of the student. Each class begins with a warm-up geared towards the specific practice of that class. These include gentle flowing stretches and Kryas to warm the core and joints. Sun Salutations are a common practice in our classes to deepen the warm-up and begin opening the body deeper to prepare for standing poses and balancing. In our Sun Salutations, we practice vinyasa, allowing the breath to move the body into the postures to connect breath with movement. Standing poses and balance bring strength, endurance, and steadiness into our practice. Classes always wind down with deep, mind quieting stretches to keep the body and mind flexible and supple and finally ending in a deep relaxation.
Yoga for Rookies: A slower paced Hatha yoga practice designed for students newer to Yoga, as well as continuing students looking for deeper instruction. This class is paced to allow adequate time to investigate the alignment fo postures and Yoga breathing techniques.
Pre & Postnatal Yoga:Nurture yourself and your baby through your entire pregnancy journey with light stretching and strengh-building poses. Gain stability with gentle balancing poses, and clear the mind of tension with breathing and relaxation techniques.
Gentle Flow Restorative Yoga: A gentle beginner class with deep opening stretches and strength poses compiled into a slow flow to include balance and an overall body workout.
Active Flow Yoga: This is a great class for those beginners wanting a little more. A nice, laid-back, all-level class integrating deeper poses and balances for beginners and intermediates alike. This class picks up the pace with a steady vinyasa for a full mind and body workout.
